Myofascial Release Therapy

Someone getting Myofascial Release TherapyMyofascial release is a gentle therapy which works specifically with the connective tissue (fascia) to relieve the tightness that causes muscle restrictions.  The fascia is like a 3D web which surrounds every cell, muscle and organ from head to toe.  It provides support and flexibility to all the systems in the body.  Myofascial release uses sustained pressure to stretch and lengthen the fascia.
Often modern medicine ignores this interwoven network, however releasing restrictions within the 3D web can be the missing link in resolving causes of pain and discomfort.

Our Myofascial Release Therapist Karen Baker  has a keen interest in soft tissue dysfunction and began practicing alternative therapies in 1998.

Acupuncture

Image of acupuncture needlesAcupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.  These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Gillian Robinson, our Lead Physiotherapist, is also an experienced acupuncture practitioner.
